Prepping for Fall 2020: Recipes & Cooking Schedule

Hello! –Updated 8/25/20 with additional recipe links–

I managed and survived the trip into the grocery store (which, we all knew I would, right? It was just a matter of my own disdain for live and in person grocery shopping…more curbside pickup for this girl…for life!!!)

And now there’s no other choice but to get this plane in the air.

No sense in allowing fresh ingredients to dwindle in quality PLUS my garden is on the verge of booming which means I’ve got canning in my very near future!

It NEVER slows down around here!

I sketched out a plan to pull these 22 unique meals together (for the freezer or pantry, pending the meal) and as I mentioned before, decided to “schedule” six days with a seventh for wiggle room.

Wiggle room I will surly need when life (i.e. kids) step in the way and all the planning with the best of intentions goes down the drain.

Here’s my tentative schedule and links to the recipes I already have on the website. I’ll be circling back to add links as I get other recipes up…and they will ALLL be up….eventually.

Day 1

  • Homemade Cream of Mushroom Soup
–tuck in fridge to use in recipes across the week
  • Shredded Chicken in Crockpot
–set aside 4 cups for upcoming cooking and portion the rest to tuck directly into the freezer for later use…like chicken salad sandwiches!
  • Slice Potatoes (make quick work of this by using a food processor with slicing blade)
–store in water in fridge for next day
  • Brown 1lb Bulk Sausage
–store in fridge for next day
  • Organize/Label/Inventory Grocery Haul
–ensure you know what you have on hand (I’ve got lists!) and designate (i.e. label) pantry items for specific meals so you don’t find yourself an ingredient down when it comes time to make a certain meal.
  • Chicken Alfredo with Italian Tomatoes and Pasta
–this meal is a mix of freezer and pantry items, including some shredded chicken coming out of the crock pot, clearly labeled for this meal.
  • The following meals require no cookin’. Just label and get them situated in the pantry/freezer
    Knock-off KFC Bowls
    –Spaghetti with Italian Sausage Links
    –Ham & Broccoli Alfredo
    –Smoked Sausage & Broccoli Alfredo

Day 2

Day 3

Day 4

  • Queso Beef & Black Bean Burritos
–the “regular” burritos will be fully assembled, individually wrapped in foil and stored in a freezer bag. Those that need to be gluten free will have a portion of the filling in a freezer container along with gluten free tortillas individually packaged. Assembling the entire gluten free variety has proven a soggy and yucky mess after freezing/thawing.
  • Mexican Chicken Casserole
  • Sausage & Peppers Rice
  • Cook Rice (6 cups cooked)
tuck in fridge for use next day

Day 5

Day 6

Day 7

Day Seven will be used for any necessary catching up. In the event that all the stars align and I’m able to navigate through this just as planned *there’s laughing in my head as I type this* then Day Seven can be for resting up…I’m sure my feet will need it!

Phew! I think that’s it for now! Be sure to check back as I continue adding recipes/links.
