When You Don’t Have The Words, Pray The Scriptures

I believe in the power of prayer.

I believe evil exists in this world and seeks to steal, kill and destroy.

I believe no one is exempt from these demonic influences and God allows a certain amount of suffering for everyone, all the while having it under control in ways we could never imagine.

I believe it is our responsibility to teach our children the way they should go so that when they are older they will know which path to choose for themselves.

I believe it is our responsibility to interceded on the behalf of our children through prayer – and that it doesn’t stop when our children reach adulthood.

I believe these things because it’s written in the Bible and I believe the words of the Gospel to be truth.

But if I’m honest, I also struggle.

I struggle to cling to faith.

I struggle to find the words when I see little (to no) change and it seems my prayers are falling on deaf ears.

This is especially true where my children are concerned.

Two adopted from foster care with some unique to their situation behavioral issues and another born with health concerns that we are still working to sort out.

Not to mention the craziness going on in the world today with pandemic and hate burning like an out of control fire.

No doubt the work of evil in this world.

And I feel weariness in my heart.

Sometimes so heavily I struggle to breathe.

When I can’t find the words I often resort to “Father, hear it from my heart” but I’m also learning the value of praying the scriptures: for me, my children, my marriage, friends and family and this world.

It’s time to put on the full armor of God and fight this thing the only way it can be won!

Would you join me in praying the scriptures – especially for the next generation?

I’ve found this a most valuable tool…originally bought on my Kindle but then ordered in hard copy so I could mark and more easily reference.

And if you have adult children, there’s a version for that as well:

Join me, friends, and lets get this thing done…right!
